Head & Neck Reconstruction

Complex head and neck reconstructions often require the use of tissue flaps. Despite excellent surgical techniques, complications can still occur - resulting in serious healing problems, repeat surgery, potential loss of flap, and likely delay in adjuvant therapy. The primary cause of these early complications is often attributed to inadequate tissue perfusion1.

At present, clinical judgment is the most common method used for perfusion assessment. The SPY Elite® System enhances intraoperative visualization of tissue perfusion in real time, complementing clinical judgement and aiding surgical decision-making.  The SPY Elite® System improves understanding of patient vascular flow and tissue perfusion, which may help surgeons optimize flap design.

For complete safety information and complete instructions for the proper use of the SPY Elite® System, please refer to the SPY Elite® System Operator's Manual and SPY Elite® System Kit Instructions for Use. The SPY Elite® System is intended for use as an adjunctive method of assessing tissue perfusion in plastic, reconstructive, micro, gastrointestinal, and cardiovascular surgical procedures. The SPY Elite® System is to be used under the direction of a physician.
