Abdominal wall reconstruction
For many years, recurrence rate has been the gauge of success in hernia repair. However, in challenging hernias - which account for more than 50% of all ventral hernia repairs - management of infection risk is another key measurement of success. Risk varies from patient to patient and that is why effectively assessing risk of infection can be directly correlated to optimizing outcomes and minimizing complications. In an effort to develop a framework for gauging hernia infection risk, LifeCell, in conjunction with surgeon consultants, developed the Hernia Grading System.

Soft-tissue repair materials that revascularize while providing strong repair hold promise for patients with challenging hernias.
LifeCell™ Tissue Matrices, AlloDerm® Regenerative Tissue Matrix and Strattice™ Reconstructive Tissue Matrix, undergo non-damaging proprietary processing resulting in intact, acellular matrices that are strong and support regeneration by way of rapid revascularization, as shown in an animal model.
